Our Story.

 

Cakes for Communities was founded in 2020 by Maxwell Robinson with a vision to enhance the birthdays and celebratory events of individuals within our community. Our mission is to spread joy and create lasting memories by providing delectable cakes and desserts. We believe that everyone deserves to have their special moments celebrated in a meaningful way. Initially, Max came up with the idea while handing out homemade cookies at a local charity, UCCW, during a holiday gift drive. He noticed that children and families were often more excited for the treat than the gifts they were receiving. Following a conversation with the charity director, Jackie Agudelo, Max realized that while people often donate gifts for Christmas, birthdays, or other events, there was a significant lack of donated cakes and desserts.

Since then, Cakes for Communities has grown exponentially. We are proud to have a team of over 700 dedicated members who share the same passion for making a difference. Together, we have made and donated over 1,000 individualized cakes and over 10,000 desserts. We have also been featured on local and state news, received Westchester County and New York State awards and recognition, raised and donated over $50,000, and have expanded into other schools and communities in New Jersey, New York City, Massachusetts, Tennessee, and Texas. We also have 501c3 status within New York State. Additionally, we have formed valuable partnerships with 25 local organizations, enabling us to extend our reach and impact even further. So much so, Cakes for Communities, more specifically Max, now holds board member positions on six of these partner organizations.

In addition to baking cakes and desserts for deserving families, we also offer a wide selection of delectable treats for sale, including wedding and custom cakes that are sure to make any special occasion even more memorable.

At Cakes for Communities, we take pride in being fully self-sufficient when it comes to funding our charitable operations. With every dessert we sell, the profits generated are directly funneled towards baking cakes for local families and organizations in need. By indulging in our delicious creations, our customers contribute to spreading joy within our community. We believe that every bite of cake or dessert has the power to make a positive impact and bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most.

  • United Community Center of Westchester

    UCCW helps thousands of people in New Rochelle and surrounding communities. They aid those suffering from, among others, financially instability, food insecurity, and language issues.

  • Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force

    The Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing food, clothing, and other essential items to deserviving families in the Westchester area.

  • One Sandwich at a Time

    One Sandwich at a Time is one of the many prominent food producing organizations for those who are food insecure. They specialise in producing large quantities of sandwiches.

  • Larchmont Friends of the Family

    LFOF has been actively and confidentially helping local families going through difficult times (illness, loss in family, crisis, etc). They help countless families every year.

  • Bundle Up NY

    Bundle Up NY is a branch of Bundle Up in Tennessee. Their goal is to “bundle up” those in need through love, clothes, music, and people who, put simply, just care for them!

  • Mamaroneck High School Student Council

    Mamaroneck Student Council works incredibly hard to improve their school, students and teachers, and community. They regularly host philanthropic events for those in their community.

  • Bundle Up Nash

    Bundle Up Nash is a charity based in Nashville, TN. They aim to help the homeless, orphans, the food insecure, and many others through love, music, and food. Put simply, their goal is to Bundle Up people!

  • Midnight Run

    Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping the homeless. Every year, they coordinate over 1,000 relief missions, in which volunteers distribute food, clothing, and personal care items to the homeless in New York City.
